How to play 20bb from the UTG+1
This is a first-in spot: everyone folds to you in the UTG+1, and your only options are to jam 20 big blinds or fold. The equilibrium jams about 16% of hands here. Because this is an ICM spot, busting costs more than doubling gains, so the calling ranges behind you tighten and the jamming range shifts with them — wider where nobody can afford to call, tighter where a call is cheap. The tighter the position, the fewer hands clear the bar to commit your stack — every hand you jam has to show a profit against the calling ranges left to act behind you.
Working down from the top: hands like AA, KK, QQ, AKs are pure jams, while a hand like JJ is a mixed jam at about 19%. Hands below that threshold fold — at 20bb they don't have the raw equity or fold-equity to jam profitably from the UTG+1.
Read the grid left-to-right within each cell: teal is the jam frequency, amber a min-raise, blue a limp, and the dark fill is fold. A fully teal square is a pure shove; a split square is a mixed frequency the solver plays some percentage of the time. Drill the borderline hands — those are where most of the EV is won or lost.
